Tom Wilson scores the first goal of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

There was no doubt that Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was going to make his presence felt in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but how he did so early on in Game 1 may not have been how fans would have expected him to do so.

Wilson, who has been all over the hockey headlines as of late for all the wrong reasons, opened the scoring in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs when he scored the very first goal of this year's playoffs by beating Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask. Although Wilson has become infamous in the National Hockey League for his rough playing style, sometimes even crossing the line of what is normally considered acceptable in the league, he is no stranger to goal scoring. This season alone he had 13 goals over his 47 games played and he added an additional 20 assists on the season for a combined total of 33 points.
