It didn't take very long for Joe Thornton to pick up his first career goal as a Toronto Maple Leaf.

Just 3 games into the regular season Thornton found the back of the net against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, tying up the game at 1 - 1 in the first period thanks in large part to a great play from Leafs forward Mitch Marner.

Reporter Ian Mendes shared a rather ridiculous stat about tonight's game and Jumbo Joe. Joe Thornton’s first goal against the Ottawa Senators came on January 27, 1998, that is to say a relatively long time ago. Well as Mendes points out, no member of the Senators top line this evening (Brady Tkachuk, Josh Norris, Drake Batherson) was even born at the time that goal was scored.
