The Toronto Maple Leafs are no doubt desperate for a win after losing Game 1 of their first round series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs to the Montreal Canadiens, especially when you consider how heavily favored they were to advance coming into this series.

It was the Canadiens however who once again took an early lead in Game 2, but the good news here for the Maple Leafs is that they have surged back and at the time of this writing hold their first lead in this series thanks to two key players on their roster. The first goal that tied things up for the Leafs came courtesy of the team's fourth line with veteran forward Jason Spezza once again coming up big for the Leafs.

That wrapped up the first period for the Leafs, but it wouldn't be too long into the second period that star forward Auston Matthews found his way onto the scoreboard in this series. It wasn't off a particularly beautiful shot, it was thanks in large part to a good shot from Leafs defenseman Justin Holl who fired a puck on goal that forced Carey Price to make a kick save with the edge of his pad, a kick save that fed the puck right to a streaking Matthews who made no mistake and buried the puck for a 2 - 1 Maple Leafs lead.
