For the 5th time in his career Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews has reached the 30 goal plateau.

On Saturday night the Maple Leafs participated in the latest chapter in the Battle of Ontario when they took on the Ottawa Senators. Although the Senators have not been a good team this year, I don't think anyone would have predicted Matthews to hit the milestone within the first 10 minutes of the game, not even the most passionate of Maple Leaf fans.

Needless to say things went bad early for the Senators when Matthews found his 29th goal of the year roughly just 9 minutes into the contest.

The Maple Leafs passing skills, and particularly those of Matthews linemate Mitch Marner, were once again on display moments later when Matthews scored his second of the game and his 30th of the season.

It is an impressive achievement when you consider that the Leafs have played just 37 full games this season, and it is a true testament to the scoring ability of the talented Leafs forward.
