This is tough to watch.

Things got heated up last night in the preseason game between the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks, but it all came to a halt near the end of the third period when Zack Kassian and Zack MacEwen dropped the gloves.

Sure the fight gets fans excited, but the reason why it came to a halt is because as they were dropping bombs, the two heavy guys lost their balance and Kassian went crashing into the ice, head first.

Right away, MacEwen move away and referees checked on Kassian who was immobile on the ice. Trainers from both teams came to his help as teammates and rivals were worried about him.

Check it out, but it's not easy to watch:

Kassian managed to make his way out and down the tunnel for repairs. He needed to put a towel up to his head and appeared groggy.

After the game, head coach Dave Tippett gave an encouraging update on Kassian’s condition, despite a good bump on his head.

“He’s got a pretty good bump on his head from hitting the ice but he was in good spirits & was telling jokes when I came & saw him after the game.”

Let’s see if he misses any action due to potential concussion symptoms after this heavy fall.
