Walsh could convince Fleury to refuse playing in Chicago and sign in Pittsburgh

We know: that does not sound like Fleury at all, but…

This was a tough one on Tuesday. It all started when Marc-Andre Fleury was traded from Vegas to Chicago. While Fleury did not have Chicago on his 10-team no-trade list, he had made it clear he didn’t want to play for any team other than Vegas. To make things worse and unfortunately for Flower, he found out he was traded on social media. The shock was so important that his agent, Allan Walsh, revealed that his client is now contemplating his future.

Ever since, there has been talk that Fleury could be traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, the only other team Fleury would be willing to play for.

However, we can hardly imagine the Hawks accepting to trade the Vezina Trophy winner without getting him to play one game in Chicago! But Mark Madden of Pittsburgh Tribune Live suggests that Fleury should refuse to play, forcing the Hawks to move him.

While this does not sound like Flower at all, Madden believes his agent can pull it off.

“Fleury would certainly have the support of his agent, Allan Walsh. Walsh is a carny blowhard like most agents, but that’s useful in a situation like this.
Fleury would have to withstand criticism, especially in Chicago. But if his intent is to never don a Blackhawks sweater, what’s the difference?”

The way Fleury was treated by the Golden Knights would most likely forgive him for this tough move. I mean come on, he was the original Golden Knight, the face of the franchise, the beloved goalie. Everyone loves Fleury. While the Hawks could be upset, I bet it wouldn’t last long.

“But after winning a Vezina at 36, then getting tossed aside like garbage for no return, it’s time for Fleury to break character and do what makes him happy.
Going to Chicago is not that. Fleury should refuse.
The Blackhawks would be unwitting dupes, but that’s not a franchise currently worth of any sympathy.”

Now the question Madden asks is, would the Pens want him? On Thursday, Pens general manager Ron Hextall admitted he did have a lot to report on a potential Fleury trade with Chicago.

But signing there as a free agent, maybe, just maybe.
