Tuukka Rask could leave series again this postseason

It wasn’t easy for goalie Tuukka Rask to get Boston Bruins fans to understand why he left the Toronto bubble last postseason to get back to his family and leave his team without him in between the pipes. He was blamed for most of the offseason until he managed to impress the fanbase again during the regular calendar. 

Rask has been good for the first-round series and managed to get his team on top for Game 1 of the second round against the New York Islanders. The Bruins lost to the Isles in overtime on Monday night and now head coach Bruce Cassidy shared some bad news about Rask. 

Some fans are even worried that he might have to leave the series again. Many times during the 4-3 overtime loss on Monday Rask looked uncomfortable or in pain, and Cassidy confirmed that Rask is battling some nagging injuries this postseason. And we all know how Rask handles nagging stuff… While Cassidy said that his goalie is expected him to be ready to go for Game 3 in New York after two days off in between playoff games, fans are starting to worry. 

“He’s been dealing with some injuries all year, obviously good enough to play. They’re nagging. It’s not unique to just Tuukka for that position, but obviously it’s going to be brought up,” said Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy. “I’ll have a better update on if there were a potential issue down the road, but right now he’ll go get his treatment and be ready to go [Tuesday for practice] unless I hear differently. And right now, I don’t believe there’s any reason to think he won’t be able to go [for Game 3].

Rask missed close to a month with what was believed to be a back injury in the middle of the regular season but had appeared healthy as he posted a .941 save percentage during the first round win over the Washington Capitals.

However, the goalie was vague about his health when asked by the media during the Washington series while answering with a “you’ll find out”. Some believe he might have to undergo surgery this offseason and fans are hoping he won’t feel the need to leave the Bruins again to take care of this issue before the end of the run or before the Bruins can hoist the Stanley Cup…
