What a sequence! Rare to see this kind of player and this kind of momentum swing these days.

With his team down by one and with momentum on his side, Boston Bruins youngster Trent Frederic saw his opportunity to provide his team with a spark and he took it. The 22 year old forward dropped the gloves with Washington Capitals heavyweight Tom Wilson and you know what? The kid is alright. He held his own against Wilson, landing four big shots and coming out with the victory as the Bruins' completed their third period comeback to earn a big win.

"Sometimes you need a spark," Frederic said after the game. "We were down a goal. I would have liked to do it earlier, but it worked out great."

Frederic's coach liked what he saw from the kid. “I think the scrap with Wilson got everyone’s attention on the bench," Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy offered. "Wilson's arguably the toughest guy in the National Hockey League. And Freddy stood in there and gave us a bit of a boost. I don’t know what it does to their team, but it gives us a boost."

“That’s part of his game that’s grown in the American Hockey League," Cassidy said of Frederic's physicality. "He knows it's in him. He’s recognizing what he has to do to spark us. We’re gonna give him some rope with his offensive game, but he needs to bring the assertiveness, the abrasiveness. And he’s drawn penalties, he’s annoyed people. That’s just some of the game, some of the intangibles that certain players bring to the game."

“They were pretty physical both nights, really," Frederic said. "We tried to give it back tonight."
