This just in, the Buffalo Sabres have acquired defenseman Will Butcher and a 5th round pick from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for... nothing. The Devils receive only "Future Considerations" in return for Butcher and a 5th.

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired defenseman Will Butcher and a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft from the New Jersey Devils, the team announced Wednesday.
Butcher, 26, is signed through the 2021-22 season with a cap hit of $3,733,333. He tallied 11 points (1+10) in 23 games last season.
Butcher has played in 238 games and amassed 106 points (14+92) over four NHL seasons with New Jersey. He has been a positive possession player throughout his career, with a shot attempts percentage of 54.5 and a relative shot attempts percentage of 9.1.
He joined the Devils as undrafted free agent in 2017 after captaining the University of Denver to a national championship as a senior. He previously played for Sabres coach Don Granato as a member of the U.S. National Team Development Program.
