Teammates pulled brutal prank on arrogant Evander Kane!

San Jose Sharks gritty forward Evander Kane has apparently always loved to spend money. Even in his first years as a member of the Atlanta Thrashers.

That’s what fans found out when listening to the Boris and Brambor Podcast in which Boris Valabik revealed how two former teammates of Kane pulled a brutal prank on the young forward during their time in Atlanta.

This is how Valabik explains it: “Once he got to the arena before a game in a new suit. He was showing it to everyone, boasting about its price and brand. Finally Ron Hainsey and Pavel Kubina had enough, took some scissors and well… Kane left the arena wearing nice suit shorts…”

This is harsh, but some of us would hav thought it could have taught Kane a lesson, to be less arrogant and learn something about showing off how much you make.

But no… As you may remember, Kane filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in January, saying he had assets exceeding $10 million and liabilities approaching $27 million. It was then explained by many sources how the 29-year-old forward had nearly $16 million in unpaid loans and lost $1.5 million from gambling. When he formally filed for bankruptcy, he had hinted at the possibility of sitting out of the 2021 season amid the COVID-19 pandemic. He ended up suiting up for the campaign in which he has posted 22 goals and 45 points in 52 games.

Back in April, a judge ruled that Kane’s case  would remain under the Chapter 7 designation after a creditor wanted it changed to Chapter 11. Kaplan noted that this means his creditors could not tap into his future earnings. However in early May, Kane was facing a $15 million lawsuit from a financial lender. As it has claimed in court, Professional Bank states that Kane defrauded the company when he received a $1.5 million loan in 2019 against his seven-year, $49 million contract with the Sharks. PB is also contending Kane took out loans from several different banks in such a way he didn’t intend to pay back any of the money.
