There was just 25 seconds left in the game as it was tied 2-2, but Roni Hirvonen jammed in a wraparound to give Finland a 3-2 victory over Sweden on Saturday in the world junior championship quarterfinals.

It was a heartbreaking loss for the Swedes, who led the game 2-0 after one period, as Finland rallied and overcame the deficit.

When the buzzer rang, the Swedish players were devastated on the ice as their tournament in Edmonton came to an end.

Elmer Soderblom, who scored a goal in the loss, was named player of the contest. He scored a nasty little between-the-legs move from the front of the net to beat the goalie.

Then, it was time to name the three best players of the tournament for Sweden and you could tell players wanted nothing to do with the short ceremony. The names of Tobias Björfot (Los Angeles Kings), Victor Södertrom (Arizona Coyotes) and Arvid Costmar (Vancouver Canucks) were called out to receive a present, a Tissot watch, as they were voted as the best players of the WJC by their own team.

Both Björfot and Södertrom skated over to collect their watches with no enthusiasm, while Costmar was quite upset, holding back tears and offer quite the pout to the camera attempting to catch the proud moment on film.

We bet that’s not a happy souvenir the boys will want to see again…

That was heartbreaking but the Swedes, but you have to admit the Finns worked hard and never game up.

What a game that was. But that picture... is one to forget.
