Ever since Taylor Hall was traded to the Boston Bruins from the Buffalo Sabres at the trade deadline, it feels like he’s remembered how to play hockey. In the first round of the postseason in which the Bruins ousted the Washington Capitals in five games, Hall collected two goals and three points, after putting up 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 16 games with the Bruins during the regular season.

The second round against the New York Islanders kick off on Saturday, but Hall also has something else in mind. He is thinking about sticking with the Bruins for the foreseeable future, and he is not talking about a couple of years.

“I do want to play here, not just for one or two more years, hopefully longer than that,” Hall told ESPN in comments published Thursday.

We all remember how Hall signed a one-year, $8 million deal with the Sabres on Oct. 11 and set to become an unrestricted free agent July 28. He was then traded and have been enjoying himself more than ever amongst his Bruins’ teammates.

“I was eager to join a playoff team,” Hall said. “I was eager to join somewhere that had good culture, and where winning was sustainable. Because I was looking for somewhere I could re-sign, not just the 20 games to end the season.”

However, when it comes to how the Bruins could manage to re-sign the potential coveted forward ahead of the free market season, Hall cannot say what his value would be.

“I don’t even know what my worth is right now, honestly. I’m not worried about my contract right now, it’s something we’ll figure out in the summer. I have much bigger things to worry about as a player, as a teammate.”

Earlier this month, Bruins president Cam Neely said he hoped they would be able to sign Hall to a contract after the season, though he did not mention a long-term possibility as Hall is hoping for.

“As far as Taylor goes, we’re going to continue to see how things go with the playoffs here,” Neely said May 12. “I think we’d like to try and get something done, but that remains to be seen. But that’s our hope.”

There is a lot of hope on both sides, now, where is the cash coming from?

“I knew [Boston] was a great city, but I’ve been surprised at how much better it’s been than I even thought it was,” Hall said. “So hopefully it all works out.”
