Tampa Mayor Jane Castor needed to explain herself after she came under fire and started trending on social media for all of the wrong reasons…

After of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup final, which the Canadiens won over the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in overtime in Montreal on Monday night,
Castor had to clear the air and explained that she never wished the Lightning lost.

However, she kinda did. Ahead of the fourth contest in the series she said that she would prefer for the Bolts to “maybe take it easy”, so they could then win the next one back in front of a home crowd in Tampa.

She now states that she learned her lesson, though she did double down on her prediction.

“Lesson learned don’t try to be funny when you’re the mayor or about sports. I never wished that they lost I just said it would be great if we won the Stanley Cup at home which we will do tomorrow evening,” Castor said.

But here again, there is a chance that she’ll have to clear the air since there is a possibility that Game 5, set to take place in Tampa on Wednesday, is forced to be postponed. Tropical Storm Elsa is bringing heavy rain, wind and flooding through parts of the US, and is predicted to touch down in Tampa on Wednesday, the same day the Lightning is set to play for the Cup at their home arena and could hoist the prestigious trophy in front of their fans. Insider Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet has revealed that local authorities could be forced to postponed the game at a later date if it becomes too dangerous for fans and staff to get to the arena for the game at 8h00PM that night.

Castor says Tropical Storm Elsa should not deter game 5 which is scheduled to take place at 8 p.m. on Wednesday on WFLA.

But she might have to go back on her words… again.
