Steve Simmons makes a complete fool of himself, Leafs fans absolutely shred him online

Toronto Sun reporter Steve Simmons has found himself in the middle of some pretty notable public controversies during his career. From making up a story about Phil Kessel and a fictional hot dog vendor to outing Auston Matthews' COVID-19 diagnosis, it's fair to say that Simmons doesn't always cast himself as a journalist with the utmost of integrity. Well... get ready for it because Simmons has yet again put his foot in his mouth yet again.

When discussing the Leafs' offseason Simmons Tweeted out a "fact" about veteran additions Joe Thornton, Wayne Simmonds and Zach Bogosian.

Cool fact if it weren't complete bullshit...

Thornton himself has made it past the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs 9 times...

The total should be 11, not 8 as Simmons so confidently reported.

But, Leafs fans will surely let him off the hook, right? Right? Riiiiiiight...
