The St. Louis Blues have made known to the National Hockey League what they view to be problems with COVID-19 testing ahead of their Game 2 matchup tonight against the Colorado Avalanche.

According to general manager Doug Armstrong, the Blues "discovered discrepancies in COVID test results relating to multiple players". Among the players who didn't participate in this morning's skate included goaltender Jordan Binnington and forwards Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz.

The team is already without leading scorer David Perron, who has been on the NHL COVID-19 protocol list since Saturday. Perron, who didn't travel with the team to Denver, isn't the only Blues player on the list. He's joined by  defenseman Jake Walman since Friday and forward Nathan Walker since Thursday.

The players who missed the skate were isolated and underwent further testing.

“Because those reported results emanated from the same laboratory, and due to other peculiarities and similarities as among the test results themselves, an investigation was initiated into the possibility that the initial test results reported may have been in error,” the league said.

“Those tests have returned uniformly negative results,” the league said.

The Blues GM released the following statement:

"We have discovered discrepancies in Covid test results relating to multiple players. We have been in touch with and are working with the League to address these discrepancies with additional testing and expect to have further information later this afternoon. The League will provide a further update when we have more information. Head Coach Craig Berube and our players will not be available to the media until after tonight’s game.”

St. Louis dropped their Game 1 matchup against Colorado on Monday night, losing a 4-1 decision. Game 2 will drop the puck tonight at 10:30 PM EST.
