In spite of the fact that it has generally been a morning of good news for fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe has just pumped the brakes on that train in a massive way.

According to comments made by Keefe on Monday morning, veteran defenseman Jake Muzzin will be out for a significant period of time in these Stanley Cup Playoffs with Keefe reporting that the injury Muzzin suffered in Game 6 against the Montreal Canadiens will keep him out for at least 3 weeks.

That is a huge blow to the Maple Leafs who are facing elimination on Monday night in a pivotal Game 7 against the Canadiens.

This has largely deflated the hype that was generated this morning by two big pieces of news coming out of Toronto. The first, an announcement from the government of Ontario that will allow fans to attend a game at Scotiabank Arena for the very first time this season and the second which was Maple Leafs captain John Tavares being spotted on the ice in a regular jersey for the first time since suffering a terrible injury of his own in Game 1 of this series.
