Shea Weber offers lamest excuse for his mediocre play!

The Canadiens have lost their captain…

The Montreal Canadiens were already handed a tough blow earlier on Tuesday when interim head coach Dominique Ducharme confirmed that star goalie Carey Price is suffering from a concussion and will miss at least a week of action as he attempts to recover… On Monday, Price was removed from the game against the Oilers after 20 minutes work and did not return only to see his team fall 4-1 to Edmonton.

The Habs have been struggling in the most important time of the season when the team needs to fight for a playoff spot with confidence, and things have been worse since the Canadiens lost Brendan Gallagher to a broken hand.

If anyone still doubts that Gallagher is the heart and soul of this team : this will give you the certainty you need.

On Tuesday, captain Shea Weber was asked about his personal performance on the ice, which has been mediocre to say the least. On top of that, he appears to be absent from his leadership role, forgetting what the C means on his jersey. When Marc-Andre Godin of The Athletic asks the captain to assess his own play, this is the lame excuse Weber found as an answer:

“I don’t think there’s any need to, to be honest; this is a team game is it not?”

How disappointing it is for fans to hear! Weber has to know he needs to do more to get his team motivated in the fight for a playoff spot! After all, the Calgary Flames cannot keep losing to the Ottawa Senators!

This is ridiculous coming from a veteran like Shea Weber, who prides himself in being a strong voice in the dressing room.

Gallagher better come and get some sense into him!
