Sharks rookie Jeff Viel tees off on his first NHL shift

In case you missed it last night, San Jose Sharks rookie Jeffrey Viel elected to drop the gloves on his first NHL shift and... well, let's just say the kid handled himself just fine. He squared up with Minnesota Wild forward Luke Johnson and delivered some serious bombs. Credit Johnson for hanging in there though.

An absolute beauty of a tilt! It's probably safe to say at this point that Viel is not afraid to drop the gloves and stick up for his teammates. The 24 year old rookie put up four consecutive 100+ PIM seasons in the QMJHL and has taken on all comers in the AHL the past two seasons. The kid is a gamer and to be be perfectly frank I think he's exactly what the Sharks need in their lineup right now.
