Sergachev rips Habs fans, claims teammates and family members received death threats

In case you missed it last night Tampa Bay Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov absolutely went off on Montreal Canadiens fans following his team's Stanley Cup clinching Game 4 victory last night saying that "fans in Montreal acted like they won the Stanley Cup last game." 

It was a classic drunken call out that seems to have either riled up fans or gotten a good laugh out of fans depending on your allegiances. Oh... and did I mention he was shirtless and slamming Bud Lites the entire time?

That interview prompted hundreds of Habs fans to call out Kucherov as classless and unprofessional, to which teammate Mikhail Sergachev says, "Bite me." Well... kinda...

In a now deleted tweet Sergachev replied to a Habs fan who called Kucherov classless, saying:

"Don't talk about class when bunch of Montreal fans were sending death threats and other disgusting stuff to us and our families."

After deleting the Tweet Sergachev still owned it saying:

Not gonna post it again, don’t wanna prove anything to anyone, simply don’t care about their opinions,I think we proved them wrong on the ice AGAIN! And I have nothing but respect for the opposite team, they battled hard! Peace

To be honest, I have absolutely no problem with what Kucherov said and did. We're constantly asking for more personality and more entertaining quotes from NHL players and then when Kucherov goes off the rails like this we're supposed to admonish him as some sort of monster? C'mon... you can't have it both ways. At the same time though, there's a thin line between showing personality and being an absolute clown. Quite frankly though, I don't think we really have to worry about NHL players going full on clown mode like we see from a lot of NBA players. The fact of the matter is that you can talk a big game all you want on the court and you rarely have to back it up. Talk a big game on the ice though and you'll be forced to back it up or you'll have to take your own medicine at some point. Old time hockey, baby.
