Sens shake up their goaltending, GM Dorion throws Murray completely under the bus

Safe to say that the Matt Murray experiment hasn't worked out for the Sens.

It's probably safe to say that the Matt Murray experiment in Ottawa has been a complete failure...

The 26 year old goaltender was acquired by the Ottawa Senators from the Pittsburgh Penguins this past offseason and was expected to help solidify the net for a young Sens team. Instead, Murray has pitched a 3.84 GAA and .880 save percentage in 22 games this season. Ouch. Worse yet, he's signed for three more seasons at $6.25 million per season... double ouch.

Sens GM Pierre Dorion has evidently seen enough and made some drastic moves earlier today to help alleviate some pressure from Murray, but not before throwing some shade toward his starting netminder.

The Sens announced that goalie coach Pierre Groulx has been demoted to a scouting position, and that they have hired former journeyman NHL and AHL goaltender Zac Bierk as their new goalie coach.

The thing that sticks out most to me though is this line...

"Unfortunately, a number of our goaltending performances this season have been underwhelming,” GM Pierre Dorion said."

If I'm Murray I'm taking that as a direct shot from my GM. Sens fans better hope and pray that this guy sorts it out ASAP.
