The Saskatchewan Hockey Association, the governing body of minor/youth hockey in Saskatchewan, has effectively announced the cancellation of the entire 2020-21 season due to COVID-19 restrictions.

COVID-19 outbreaks amongst teams in Prince Albert, Melfort and Estevan prompted investigation from the province and eventually led to further restrictions that have forced leagues like the SJHL to shut down for the entire season.

While the season technically hasn't been cancelled for minor/youth teams, the province has banned any league games, exhibition games or drills of any type where players cannot maintain physical distancing.

The restrictions from Saskatchewan Hockey:

So to clarify; Eight (8) or fewer players on the entire ice surface, plus coach/instructor as long as all have face masks/coverings, plus helmet and face mask for players, and they must maintain physical distancing of three (3) meters at all time while on the ice and in the dressing room.

Does that sound like hockey to you?
