While 2020 is a year to focus for most people, it sounds like 2021 will be the one to bury for the Buffalo Sabres. Not only are they last in the league despite acquiring coveted free agent Taylor Hall in the offseason, they just aren’t back on track even after firing head coach Ralph Krueger and pushing hard to get some wins… They lost at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins last night : their 15-game losing streak is the longest in the salary cap era.

Then, they faced their second COVID scare of the season when their game against Boston was postponed on Saturday when five Bruins players ended up in protocols. It was supposed to be the first game in Buffalo with some fans in attendance, but even after a pandemic preventing them from seeing their favorite club, several season-ticket holders have decided to boycott the game…

And now on Wednesday, it was announced that the Sabres had to fire in-arena host Rich Gaenzler after he made racist remarks he made on a radio show that same morning.

Gaenzler was fired by Pegula Sports, which said the comments made on the show were “unacceptable, inappropriate, and there is no place for them in our community. The Sabres and Bandits, therefore, have made the decision to terminate him from his duties as our in-arena host.”

If you wonder what was said : the hosts of the show discussed the skin color of Serena Williams, Halle Berry, and Gayle King in relation to the darkness of toast one of the hosts prefers.

These have to be the most ridiculous racist comments ever made. He should be fired for being stupid AND racist.
