Sabres confirm the worst for captain Jack Eichel

This just in, the Buffalo Sabres have announced that captain Jack Eichel will not play tonight's game against the Philadelphia Flyers due to an upper body injury.

Even worse though, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports that Eichel could be out long-term.

Former TSN analyst Aaron Ward reports that Eichel's injury is a "flare up" of a previous injury.

It's believed that Eichel received the injury on this play during Sunday evening's loss to the New York Islanders.

Suffice it to say, this is just about the worst news that Sabres could have received today. Ouch.
