On Friday, the website Danslescoulisses, very popular and liked by Montreal Canadiens fans, reported that according to two reliable sources, Veniza trophy winner Marc-Andre Fleury was almost traded to the Habs.

It all started back on July 18th, when it was announced that Carey Price was not protected by the Canadiens ahead of the Seattle’s expansion draft as he looked to protect his teammate Jake Allen from the Kraken’s hands.

However, the two aforementioned sources revealed to Danslescoulisses that GM Marc Bergevin had planned to make a move and trade for Fleury before he was shipped out for nothing to the Chicago Blackhawks.

While the Hawks acquired Flower back on July 27th, the Canadiens were getting ready for a potential trade with the Vegas Golden Knights ahead of the NHL Draft, if of course, they had lost Price to the Kraken.

When the time came for Kraken GM Ron Francis to make his Montreal selection, he decided to go with defenseman Cale Fleury instead.

And so Fleury was left available for the Hawks. At the start of August, after mulling over this shocking trade from Vegas, he announced that he would suit up for the Blackhawks for the upcoming seasons.

We bet he wouldn’t have waited to say yes to the Canadiens if that rumour is true.

Wow!
