Rumour: Bruins letting Taylor Hall walk

This summer might not be any different than last year’s for Taylor Hall. Last summer, the veteran forward agreed to a on a one-year, $8 million deal with the Buffalo Sabres as an unrestricted free agent. The Sabres ended up doing poorly and were big seller at the trade deadline, moving Hall to the Boston Bruins, where he found immediate success. 

While Hall was hoping to remain with the Bruins for the upcoming seasons, even stating that he was not after money anymore but a great fit with teammates, it is now believed that he could be forced to test the free-agent market this summer again. Too bad for Hall who said he saw a fit with Boston and wasn’t looking to maximize his value in free agency.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman believes that Hall will go to market this offseason, and you have to believe that rival teams will look to get him signed. 

Some teams were quick to express interest over Hall after his performance in the postseason for Boston. The Toronto Maple Leafs were recently amongst the teams that were looking at the forward. GM Kyle Dubas can be quite convincing with free agents looking to play for a contender and Hall, a Canadian-born player, might be tempted to play up North with a Cup-contending team. 

Hall has 228 goals and 596 points in 680 career games since being selected first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Draft. This was just his third time reaching the postseason in his 11-year NHL career this season.

It all depends too on what the Leafs decide to go with Zach Hyman, who might cost too much to remain in Toronto, and what happens at the expansion draft. 

However, Hall might go back to his old ways and seek money if the Bruins are going to let him walk.
