Is this the end?

You have to feel for everyone involved in this situation.

Although we have not yet heard anything official on this matter, which is why it remains a rumor at this time, there are now credible reports coming out of the Philadelphia Flyers training camp that suggest first round draft pick Samuel Morin has once again been injured. The news comes courtesy of Flyers reporter Anthony SanFilippo and according to his comments, this is a "significant" injury.

The news will be incredibly frustrating to Flyers fans that have been holding out hope that Morin could one day make an impact in the lineup. Morin was drafted in the first round (11th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, but his career has been so riddled with injuries that he has only skated in 29 NHL games since being drafted. In fact over the course of the last 3 full seasons, Morin has appeared in a combined 31 games at both the NHL and the American Hockey League level and has just 3 points to his name over that stretch.

It is not even a slight exaggeration to suggest that injuries have completely derailed his career thus far and, to be blunt, if this is indeed another major injury I feel like this may very well be the end of the road for him as far as the National Hockey League is concerned.

Things have been so bad at times, as far as Morin's development is concerned, that the Flyers have even tried moving him to forward at times, however it would now appear that it may be time to give up on the project altogether.

Giving up on such a high draft choice is never easy, and by all accounts Samuel Morin is a wonderful human being and boasts an equally impressive work ethic, but yet another injury for the 26 year old really does make it feel like it is time to throw in the towel.

If this is indeed the end of the road for Morin I can't help but feel bad for him. That being said the most important thing at this point is his health, and I hope he can make a full recovery and live a healthy life after hockey.
