In case you missed it this past weekend, the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired goaltender David Rittich from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a 3rd round pick in next year's 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

And now, according to a report from Flames insider Eric Francis, Rittich will make his first start for the Leafs tonight when they take on his former team in Toronto.

Imagine sitting on the bench the whole season behind a $6 million starter in Jacob Markstrom and then when you finally get your shot to take over the starter's position it's against the team you spent the entire season with. Incredible. More than that though, the Flames are the only NHL team that Rittich has ever played for! The 28 year old Czech native has started 15 games for the team this season, but shared the crease in Calgary with Cam Talbot and Mike Smith the past few seasons.

Tonight, he'll start a new chapter in Toronto with Jack Campbell backing him up. With regular Leafs starter Frederik Andersen still on the mend, the crease is wide open for Rittich to establish himself.
