According to a report from Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford is "very interested" in acquiring disgruntled Winnipeg Jets former 1st rounder Jack Roslovic.

The 23 year old Roslovic remains without a contract and has reportedly demanded a trade out of Winnipeg. It's believed that Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has been working the phones in order to facilitate a trade for Roslovic. If he heads to Pittsburgh, what might the return be?

From Friedman during Saturday's Hockey Night in Canada's "Headlines" segment:

"Jack Roslovic is unsigned, he's asked for a trade, he's not with the Jets," Friedman said. "The Pittsburgh Penguins have started the season 0-2 and we know [GM] Jim Rutherford is not afraid. I also believe they're one of the teams who's very interested. We'll see if there's a match."

The problem is that the Jets likely won't be satisfied with picks and/or prospects in exchange for Roslovic. They need someone who can play now and who can make an impact on the ice this season. Would a forward like Jared McCann or Bryan Rust fit the bill? Or what about a blueliner like Marcus Pettersson or John Marino? That's probably a steeper price to pay than Rutherford likely wants to pay, but you know the old saying, "You gotta give to get."
