The National Hockey League has had to deal with all kinds of issues related to the ongoing pandemic and even the most casual of hockey fans has no doubt noticed by now that it has wreaked havoc on the league's scheduled for the 2020 - 2021 regular season.

A ton of games have been delayed already, and more may still come, which has forced the league to adjust the schedule on the fly. On Monday we got another example of these struggles when the NHL announced that it was moving 3 games on the schedule forward to accomodate for some of the challenges they are currently dealing with.

One of the changes is relatively minor so we'll start there, and this is for a between the Boston Bruins and the Buffalo Sabres, one scheduled for April 20th. This game will remain on the same day, but for some reason has been bumped up slightly with a start time of 6:30 pm EST instead of 7:00 pm EST.

The others are more significant however with the second most significant of the changes being to a game between the Edmonton Oilers and Ottawa Senators, with that game originally schedule to take place on April 9th. That game has now been moved up significantly and will instead be played a full day earlier on April 8th at 7 pm EST.

The most drastic change however comes to a game schedule between the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, that game originally schedule for the 7th of May. The game is getting bumped up almost a full month, with it now schedule for this upcoming Saturday, April 10th at 10 pm EST.

The league did not provide any kind of announcement in regards to why these games were all being moved, but I suspect that the drastic situation the Vancouver Canucks are currently dealing with may have played some role in these moves. That is of course only speculation on my part at this time, so don't take that as fact.

I suspect that we will be seeing a great many more changes to the schedule as we come down the final stretch of the season.
