The Vancouver Canucks opened up their training camp yesterday and conspicuously missing from attendance was veteran forward Micheal Ferland. According to a report from TSN 1040 reporters Rick Dhaliwal, Ferland's agent has confirmed that he will not play for the duration of the 2021 season.

Canucks GM Jim Benning confirmed that Ferland will not join the team this season.

As for Ferland himself, he issued a brief statement via Dhaliwal saying:

“There are good days and bad days, this last week has been tough because I can not be with my teammates. Being away from the team has been some of the toughest and hardest things in my life”

Man, you have to feel for the guy...

The 28 year old forward has played just 14 games with the Canucks over the past two seasons due to post-concussion symptoms. If this is indeed the end of the road for the man they call Ferly he'll end his career with 60 goals and 134 points in 335 games split between the Canucks, Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames.
