This just in, the NHL has released its schedule for the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with six of the eight matchups already decided.

Curiously, the North Division will begin their post-season after the U.S. based divisions due to the remaining regular season games on the Vancouver Canucks' schedule. The Canucks, of course, were shut down for nearly a month after being ravaged by COVID-19. As a result, the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers will all start their postseason a few days later than the other playoff teams. Oh... and the Canadian teams will face a condensed first round schedule in an effort to "catch up" with their American counterparts.

Interestingly enough, this schedule will likely force the Canadian teams to go to their back up goalie in back-to-back situations. Both the Leafs/Habs and the Oilers/Jets series' feature back to back games for Games 3 and 4. If you're a Leafs fan you know what that means... Freddy Andersen will see some playoff action...
