It's safe that say that this has been a disastrous season for the Philadelphia Flyers. Despite seemingly taking a step forward in 2019-20, the Flyers have fallen off a cliff this season. They're 6th place in the East Division ahead of just league-wide bottom feeders the New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres, they have some of the worst defensive numbers in the NHL and stud goaltending prospect Carter Hart looks like a shattered young man.

So yeah... it's safe to say things aren't going according to plan in Philly.

So what's next?

Well, it's clear that the team is in desperate need of at least one, if not two or three, more top-level defensemen. But, if there's no one there in free agency and GM Chuck Fletcher is forced to go through the trade market, what kind of trade chips will he have at his disposal?

In his latest column for NBC Sports Philadelphia, Jordan Hall suggests that the contracts for Claude Giroux, Kevin Hayes, James van Riemsky and Jakub Voracek will be too difficult to move. Instead, it's likely that Fletcher puts up younger, more affordable players like Sean Couturier, Travis Konecny, Scott Laughton or Oskar Lindblom up for sale. If I'm a Flyers fan though, that makes me very, very nervous. This team isn't exactly brimming with top prospects. Thoughts, Flyers fans?
