This just in courtesy of NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Boston Bruins will elect to sit goaltender Tuukka Rask and forward Jake DeBrusk for this evening's game against the New York Islanders. Rask, according to head coach Bruce Cassidy, is simply in need of a rest day, while DeBrusk will be a healthy scratch.

Check it out:

If this news surprises you, well... you probably haven't been watching DeBrusk this season. The 24 year old forward has been virtually invisible most nights this season and has just one goal through 17 games this season. Hopefully he'll be able to get his game back on track by watching from the press box this evening.

As for Rask, this type of situation is becoming pretty normal for him. Obviously Rask has taken heat from Bruins fans for "bailing on his team" most notably during the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season, but for better or worse this is how this guy operates. He's one of the best goalies in the world and, again for better or worse, he needs time off to rest and get his body and his mind right. Tough to fault a guy when he's been so consistent.
