Report: Blue Jackets seeking a king's ransom from Canadiens in Dubois trade talks

According to a report from former Sportsnet NHL insider Nick Kypreos, disgruntled Columbus Blue Jackets star Pierre-Luc Dubois' preferred destination via trade is his childhood team the Montreal Canadiens. More to the point, Kypreos reports that the Blue Jackets and Canadiens have indeed had discussions involving Dubois but that the Blue Jackets are insistent on receiving youngsters Nick Suzuki and Alexander Romanov in any deal involving Dubois.

Check it out:

I have to say, as much as I love Dubois as a player, that's a STEEP price to pay for him.

Suzuki has all the makings of a star player, perhaps even more so than Dubois, and Romanov looks to be a core piece for the Habs moving forward. Make no mistake, Dubois would absolutely transform the Canadiens' offence, but at what cost to the future? Habs GM Marc Bergevin has made it known that he's a big game hunter and would love to add a top line center. I mean, just look at his contract offer to Sebastian Aho just a year ago. And in Dubois there's a top line center out there just waiting to be traded for. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, especially if the Habs struggle out of the gate.
