Report: Bertuzzi done for the season

This just in from Detroit Red Wings insider Max Bultman, Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi will not return to the team this season. He's out for the team's remaining eight games with an unspecified upper body injury.

Check it out:

There's some speculation that Bertuzzi's back may be giving him some issues. If that's the case, the Red Wings are wise to shut him down for the season so that he can properly recover. It's another wasted season for the team anyways and Bertuzzi has been limited to just nine games due to injury.

The 26 year old forward put up an impressive five goals and seven points in those nine games this season though and showed signs that he was ready to take yet another step in his continued development. He put up a career high 21 goals and 48 points in just 71 games with the team last season. If he can come back healthy and the NHL can put together a full 82 game schedule in 2021-22, it's not unreasonable to think Bertuzzi could break the 60 point barrier.
