Report: Bennett held out of Flames' lineup amidst trade rumblings

When the Calgary Flames hit the ice tonight to take on the Winnipeg Jets, they'll do so with disgruntled center Sam Bennett sitting in the press box. According to multiple reports, the 24 year old former 4th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft requested a trade from the Flames earlier this season so his demotion from the lineup has understandably led to plenty of trade speculation.

Is there a trade coming down? Or is this just a coach's decision from Flames head coach Geoff Ward.

The latest from TSN insider Darren Dreger:

I gotta say... I'm not sure I'm buying Dreger's assessment here. Bennett, while he hasn't lit the world on fire this season, still has a place in the Flames' lineup. And I can't imagine that scratching him will increase his trade value at all? Just remember that where there's smoke, there's usually fire.
