It would certainly be a rather large adjustment being traded from the defending Stanley Cup champions to a team in the midst of a rebuild and on their way to 31st place in the NHL.

However, for Robby Fabbri, things couldn't have worked out better for himself or his new team.

Upon his November 2019 acquisition from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for checking forward Jacob de la Rose, he fit like a glove with his new teammates, particularly with that of former juniors teammate Tyler Bertuzzi. And while Detroit would ultimately finish dead last in the NHL standings, Fabbri saw fit to sign a two-year contract extension to remain part of the rebuilding process.

He continued his strong play into the 2020-21 NHL Season that saw him net 10 goals in the 30 games he appeared in, giving him a pace of between 20 and 30 tallies had it been a full 82 game schedule. And while he was forced to miss the final 17 games of the season with a "little concussion", he'll be ready to go for training camp come September, and has been skating at the team's training center.

"Good to go," said Fabbri, after Monday's event at Patton Memorial Center as part of the Red Wings' “Street Hockey in The D: Summer Series". "I'm 100 percent now. I've been training for a couple of months and everything is back to normal. It's nice to get healthy right at the beginning of summer and not miss any of the training."

The last game Fabbri appeared in was April 3 against the eventual Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.

"As we ramped it up a little bit I had a couple setbacks, so we kind of took the process a little slow and made sure we weren't risking any future things coming up," Fabbri said. "Just made sure it was properly healed and didn't want to rush anything."

"I got caught on the jaw, one of those things that happens millions of times in a game," Fabbri said. "But this one rung the bell a little different, so we just wanted to make sure I was healthy."
