I'm not sure I've ever seen this before...
With the score tied 2-2 late in the third period of tonight's game between the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers, Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask elected to pull himself by heading to the Bruins' bench for an extra man. Why, you ask? I have no clue.
There was no delayed call on the play and the score was deadlocked in the final minute of the third period. In other words, this is the worst time for a goalie to just... decide he's done? Wouldn't be the first time for Rask in that respect, but I digress...
In any case, watch Rask head to the bench and look at his team's reaction once they figure out what he's doing:
What are you doing, bud!? Get your head in the game!
In the end, Brad Marchand won the game 3-2 in OT for the Bruins, so I guess it's a 'no harm, no foul' type situation. But, man oh man... if Bruins fans weren't on Rask before this, the guy sure isn't making things easy on himself.
