Pierre LeBrun reveals changes to schedule affecting all Canadian teams

On Tuesday, the National Hockey League announced that, as a result of two Montreal Canadiens Players being in the NHL’s COVID Protocols, the team’s games have been postponed through Sunday, March 28. Pending test results in the coming days, it is expected that the Canadiens will be able to re-open their facilities for practice on Monday, March 29. 

This meant that three of the Habs’ games against the visiting Edmonton Oilers were getting postponed, and one against the Ottawa Senators. 

It also meant that the entire schedule involving all seven Canadian teams would be affected. However, Pierre LeBrun revealed on last night’s edition of Insider Trading on TSN that the NHL finally has it figured out: 

“The NHL has sent in the dates to, especially the two teams that are involved, Edmonton and Montreal. Ken Holland and Marc Bergevin have the rescheduled games in front of them, they have the matrix. But the NHL wants to wait before announcing and making that official because of course they want to wait until Montreal gets the full go, the full clear here in their COVID situation so we may not hear about it for a while. In the meantime, as it stands now, if Montreal gets back to playing next Tuesday against Ottawa, the reschedule for the North Division sees a game or two on May 11, which is the latest the schedule maker has gone so far in his make-up games. It means the playoffs could still start by the 13th so that’s not too much of a delay.”

Let’s hope for the best for the Canadiens to be back healthy and in action soon, so we get a confirmed schedule in place that does not budge the postseason too much.
