Philadelphia Flyers rewards last season's leading scorer with long-term extension

He was the Philadelphia Flyers leading scorer during the shortened 2020-21 NHL Season, and they've rewarded him handsomely for his efforts.

The Flyers have officially announced they've signed forward Joel Farabee to a six year contract extension worth a reported $30 million; the new deal will begin in the 2022-23 season, carries an AAV of $5 million, and will run through the 2027-28 season.

Farabee was drafted in the first round, 14th overall at the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Flyers, and has developed into a playmaker in his still young NHL career. A player not afraid to throw his weight around, Farabee also kills penalties.

Of course, leading your team in scoring at the tender young age of 20 certainly bodes well for future success. Last season, he posted 20 goals with 18 assists, and is poised to take the next step forward as the Flyers aim to get back into contention.
