Perry & Suzuki take each other out after missing their hits.

That can't feel good.

Perry & Suzuki take each other out after missing their hits.

This certainly won't be on any highlight reel for the Montreal Canadiens at the end of the season, but it may make a few blooper reels considering just how big of a fail this was.

On Saturday night the Montreal Canadiens faced off against the Calgary Flames in what was a pretty physical game between the two sides. Although both teams delivered on that front, the biggest hit of the night may have come as a result of some friendly fire between Canadiens forwards Corey Perry and Nick Suzuki

It happened behind the Flames net as both players appeared to be chasing down Calgary's Derek Ryan, and it looked like initially the plan was to deliver a hit on him from both sides. Instead of making a nice Derek Ryan sandwich however both players appeared to misstime their body checks and instead they crashed hard into one another. The collision between Perry and Suzuki was an awkward one and both men were slow to get up and both men showed signs of discomfort when they eventually returned to the bench. Suzuki even wound up heading back into the locker room for a brief period but would eventually return to the game.

Although both guys were shaken up on the play, I suspect that what took the biggest hit after this play was both of their egos. I have no doubt though that they will put this behind them very quickly, although there may be some good ribbing forthcoming from some of their teammates in the near future.
