This has been an eventful night for Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Casey DeSmith. After letting four goals in by the Washington Capitals, DeSmith appeared shaken up and NBC analysts even wonder if head coach Mike Sullivan was going to pull him and let Tristan Jarry take over.

But then, something amazing took place.

DeSmith spotted his teammate Teddy Blueger and managed to feed him the puck in a crazy Hail Mary pass as he pushed past the five Capitals’ players and beat netminder Vitek Vanecek in between the pipes.

There are no words to describe this play, this goal, which is likely to become a goal of the year candidate.

Check it out:

This inspired teammate Evgeni Malkin to tie the game at 4 after 40 minutes of play.

Blueger's 3 on 5 goal is just the third in Penguins' history according to the account PittsburghHockey.net. The other two times, it was thanks to Mario Lemieux, back in 1988 against the Los Angeles Kings, and Matt Cooke against the Philadelphia Flyers back in 2012.
