What a ridiculous time we're living in. Good grief...

In case you missed it earlier this week, the Pittsburgh Penguins officially welcomed fans back into PPG Paints Arena with a 5-2 victory over their hated rivals the Philadelphia Flyers.

After nearly a calendar year, it was encouraging to see cheering fans in the building for a Penguins game.

Of course, given the current climate we live in you just knew it was a matter of time until some sort of controversy emerged from the team's decision to open things back up a bit. The re-opening of facilities for events like professional sports is a contentious issue with some and the Penguins' decision to allow fans back seems to have created some controversy amongst fans, especially after the team was basically outed for lying on social media.

How so?

The Penguins' social media team blatantly edited masks onto fans or at least "adjusted" masks so that it appeared fans were doing things according to COVID-19 protocols.

Check it out:

Do you see it?

Check out the standing woman, just left of the fan in the San Jose Sharks jersey:

Good grief... that's where we're at now?

Photoshopping someone's mask up two inches on their face so that you don't incite a riot on social media?

Just post the photo or don't post the photo... why even open yourself up to stuff like this?
