The unique challenges presented in the shortened schedule for the 2020 - 2021 National Hockey League regular season have also created some unique situations for certain players, and the latest is Edmonton Oilers rookie Stuart Skinner.

The 22 year old netminder will make his NHL debut on Sunday night and although I would love to suggest that skinner is ready for the jump to the NHL, young goalie remains relatively unproven. His last season in the American Hockey League with the Bakersfield Condors saw him record a 3.31 goals against average and an .892 save percentage, not numbers that on their own suggest he is NHL ready.

That being said the reality is that Skinner has had a ton of time to work on his skills since he last played in the AHL, and perhaps he will showcase some of that work this evening against the Ottawa Senators.
