Noted hockey fan and comedian Norm Macdonald dies at 61

Veteran comedian and former SNL producer Norm Macdonald has succumbed to cancer today at the age of 61 after battling the illness for nearly a decade. 


Per his producing partner Lori Jo Hoekstra:

"He was most proud of his comedy. He never wanted the diagnosis to affect the way the audience or any of his loved ones saw him. Norm was a pure comic. He once wrote that ‘a joke should catch someone by surprise, it should never pander.’ He certainly never pandered. Norm will be missed terribly."

A noted hockey fan, MacDonald starred in "The Norm Show" about a former NHL hockey player who was banned for life because of gambling and tax evasion.
