The relationship between National Hockey League superstar Nikita Kucherov and fans of the Montreal Canadiens is at an all time low following comments made by the Russian forward after he eliminated the Canadiens and captured the Stanley Cup for a second consecutive season in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. Kucherov mocked fans for the way they celebrated after a victory in Game 4 of the Final and it has become clear since those comments that Kucherov will be public enemy #1 in Montreal for some time to come.

What has done a good job of fanning the flames of hatred from the Canadiens fan base has been the behavior of NHL player agent Dan Milstein, the man who represents Nikita Kucherov in negotiations. Milstein has been ruthlessly taunting fans of the Canadiens since his client came under fire after winning the Cup and to suggest that he has shown no mercy may be something of an understatement.

On Thursday Milstein kept things short and sweet, tweeting out a picture of a smiling Kucherov holding up the Stanley Cup in front of a beautiful backdrop.

One of the consistent points of criticism against Kucherov and the Lightning has been what many view as a circumvention of the salary cap, but rather than hide from those accusations Milstein has thrown it right back in the face of those accusing the Lightning of cheating. Milstein joked that the team would be wearing shirts dedicated to the salary cap during their Stanley Cup parade in Tampa Bay.

I don't know how long the taunting from Milstein will continue but just a few moments ago he sent out another picture, one that was once again designed to mock those who have been throwing criticism in the direction of his clients. This one features a picture of Kucherov with two Stanley Cups covering his ears, meant to symbolize that the player is deaf to the haters, accompanied with a little caption.

Milstein appears to be relishing in the reaction that his publications on social media have provoked and it may very well be that we are headed for what will become a genuine rivalry between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens.
