Time to blow it up in Toronto!?

The Toronto Maple Leafs' 2020-21 season is officially over after losing a winner take all Game 7 yesterday evening against the Montreal Canadiens. The Leafs, of course, had a 3-1 series lead over the Habs and dropped three straight decisions to cough up the series and send them to another early offseason. And it's sure to be an offseason full of self reflection and change for the Leafs after yet another wasted season.

The big question amongst the Leafs fanbase is what to do with their high priced superstars, namely Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews. Both players excelled in the regular season but failed to make an impact in the playoffs... again.

So, what gives? Will GM Kyle Dubas make a change to his core or will he stay the course?

TSN insider Darren Dreger reports that he doesn't believe major changes are in the plans this offseason.

Check it out:

How many is enough? They've already got six in a row...

If I'm Dubas I'm at least taking calls from other GMs on Marner. To me, Marner has proven that he can't handle the pressure of the post-season, especially in his hometown market. While he has an enormous salary and cap hit, he has real trade value and should help the team gain a legitimate top four defenceman or starting goaltender on the trade market.

Speaking of top four defenceman, it doesn't look like Morgan Reilly will be heading anywhere else this offseason.

Again from Dreger:

I have no problem with Reilly and frankly I feel like he had a strong post-season. Bringing him back on a reasonable contract makes a lot of sense. However, it's no surprise to me that the Leafs fell apart with rugged defender Jake Muzzin out of the lineup. The Leafs' roster is made up of players who tend to shy away from physical play, but Muzzin just relishes in it.

Again from Dreger:

To me, Dreger is right on the money here. The Leafs some impact players up front, the same as they have with Muzzin on the backend. Wayne Simmonds has been a great addition, but he doesn't play impact minutes. The Leafs need some grit in their top six forward lines and last night's result proves it.
