NHL forced to send the Stanley Cup back to Montreal

After breaking the Montreal Canadiens and their fans’ hearts, the Tampa Bay Lightning broke the Stanley Cup…

They find out since the Cup was photographed looking all bent out and it went viral on social media. The photo depicted half the bowl at its summit had been flattened.

Now the league has to send the trophy back to Montreal as Lightning insider Joe Smith for The Athletic reported that the Cup will “be sent to Montreal for repairs and be back to resume Cup celebrations with the Tampa Bay Lightning next weekend.”

This just adds insult to injury, don’t you think?

And so, Montreal didn’t get to hoist the Stanley Cup and on top of that, will have to fix what their rivals, now back-to-back champions, did to the poor trophy.

You have to admit this is brutal.

This is worse than what star player Nikita Kucherov could ever say about Montreal and its fanbase. That’s when after winning the Stanley Cup in Game 5 in Tampa, a shirtless and drunk Kucherov called out fans in Montreal for being too excited after the Habs managed to win Game 4.

“I didn’t want to go back to Montreal,” Kucherov said. “The fans in Montreal, come on. They acted like they won the Stanley Cup last game. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Their final was last series.”

Fans and players were insulted, but you have to admit that Montreal coming to save the Lightning by repairing the Cup the team broke in their crazy celebrations has to hurt even more.

The 2021 season and postseason are truly like none other in the NHL!
