Nazem Kadri's 8 game suspension has been upheld

According to a report from TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger, Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri has had his eight game suspension appeal upheld by an independent arbitrator.

Check it out:

This was the second appeal by Kadri to be thrown out after he was haded an eight game suspension from NHL Player Safety for a blindside hit on St. Louis Blues defenceman Justin Faulk.

Here's the hit in question:

Kadri was assessed a major penalty for a hit to the head and a game misconduct penalty, as well. NHL Player Safety head George Parros handed out the eight game suspension a day later and specifically cited Kadri's history as a repeat offender as the reasoning for such a severe suspension. Still, Kadri appealed the suspension to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman who ultimately chose to uphold Parros' ruling. The next, and final step for Kadri was to appeal to an independent arbitrator who reportedly upheld Parros' ruling, as well.

Kadri has served six of the eight games and will not be eligible to return to the Avs' lineup until Game 7 (if necessary) of their series against the Golden Knights or Game 1 of their series against the Montreal Canadiens, if they advance past Vegas. If you're an Avs fan, you're no doubt itching to get a guy like Kadri back into the lineup too. The Avs have looked flat and have been outclassed by Vegas the past two games after looking like they were absolute world beaters in Game 1 in 2, not to mention their dominance over the Blues in the first round. The past two games though have served up this team a bit of adversity and very few teams go all the way without facing some adversity. It'll be interesting to see how the leadership group of Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen react to being absolutely trounced for two consecutive games. I'll know everything I need to know about this team by the way they play in the first 10 minutes of tonight's game. If they come out flat, look out... because Vegas can steamroll you if you're not prepared.
