Earlier today, a memorial service for the late Jimmy Hayes was held at St. Ann's Church in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The funeral included several touching speeches from Hayes' wife and brother, who remembered him as a dedicated family man who helped improve the lives of all those around him. 

Nearby, a touching gesture was organized by members of the Dorchester Hockey Youth Association:


Hayes passed away last week at the age of 31; an autopsy has been performed, though the cause of death still remains unknown. 

Hayes appeared in 334 games in the NHL for four teams. He scored a total of 54 goals and 109 points for the Blackhawks, Panthers, Bruins, and Devils. Since last playing professionally, he had cohosted a podcast with fellow former NHLers Shane O’Brien and Scottie Upshall called “Missin Curfew".
